Female nurse taking care of a senior man at homeCOVID-19 has changed many Canadians’ views. According to a survey conducted by the National Institute on Ageing at Toronto’s Ryerson University, the majority of people over 65 want “to live safely and independently in their own home as long as possible.”

But what does it take to live safely and independently in your own home? First, you and your family need resources you can trust to help with the everyday tasks that might (or have) become more of a challenge as you age.

That’s why Nexim created a Retire@Home program that provides special packages for families to pick and choose, al la carte style, what they need help with and for how long. Each family is provided with a caseworker to help find the right services hassle-free, making learning easier. Some of the most popular services are:

  • Escorting to appointments
  • Personal hygiene help including bathing and lavatory assistance
  • Companionship – both night and day
  • Routine medical checks, including checking vitals, blood pressure, and care plan assessments
  • Post-surgery, medical procedure support
  • Wound care
  • Dialysis
  • Foot care
  • Accessible transportation
  • Grocery shopping with or without client
  • General house cleaning
  • Laundry
